Cindy Lee Bergersen knows that for
many, the topic of interior design, especially how
interior design relates to their own homes, is mysterious.
The mission of Home Design Consultation is to clarify
the “home situation” by addressing problems
and providing vision, means and methods to live better
and more comfortably. After attending two of the most
prestigious schools for interior design in the country,
and working for over a decade with some of America’s
foremost home designers, she launched Home Design Consultation
in 1996 with the goal of bringing what she’d
learned to “Design Civilians”.
Cindy got
her start at California College
of Arts and Crafts in
Oakland, CA and eventually earned a Magna Cum Laude degree
in Interior Design from the Fashion
Institute of Technology in New York. She is
also an Allied
Member ASID. Along the way, she produced home
wares in both retail design stores, as well as, large
scale design projects. She worked directly
for several designers on both coasts including: John
Hutton, Ron Mann, Ivy Rosequist, and Gump’s – Interior
Design Department in San Francisco; Angelo Donghia,
Steven Klein and Martin Albert Interiors in New York.
With
Home Design Consultation, Cindy encourages her clients
to work within their own timeframe, budget and comfort
level, be that a one hour consultation on paint selection,
a shopping excursion to select pieces for a living room,
or a complete home design, with a flexible menu of services
and fee structures to select from. With her background
and highly specialized training, Cindy sees “the
big picture”.
She is more concerned with how objects and furniture
complement one another in terms of size, shape, texture
or color, than in strictly adhering to time periods
or styles. Part interior designer, part ad-hoc psychologist,
Cindy listens to people’s concerns and desires,
and then answers in a way that gives inspiration and
confidence. She is delighted to be helping extraordinary
people (including those masquerading as “Ordinary
Joe’s”) transform their uninspired spaces
into something both fabulous and functional.
